World Hypertension Day
World Hypertension Day is observed on May 17 every year across the world to create awareness about hypertension, which is also known as high blood pressure (HBP). It was first initiated in May 2005 and has now become an important date in the medical calendar to alert people and encourage them to take steps to control this “silent killer”.

To encourage people to leave unhealthy habits like alcohol, smoking and avoid oily and unhealthy food
Ways to control hypertension
Try losing some weight, at least around your waistline.
Exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes every day.
Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables.
Limit alcohol and cigarettes.
Reduce stress.
Keep monitoring your blood pressure levels.
